In less than a year, I have seen 3 major articles in the Wall Street Journal all related to mercury poisoning from our food. One was a pro basketball player on a high protein fish diet. He became ill from the mercury consumption in the fish diet. Another was an elementary school student in CA who at Tuna (Sunkist) instead of junk food. He became ill from high mercury consumption. Now the Monday, Jan. 9th issue 2006, section A4 has a related article about CA publishing warnings fish sold in stores Nearly all fish and seafood contain some amount of mercury and related compounds, chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Certain fish contain higher levels than others.”
Public awarness about Mercury is rising but still very little is said about its presence in dental Amalgams. The old wisdom was that it was harmless. The new wisdom is that it is dangerous but is such small amounts that there is nothing to worry about. May be the American Dental Association has heard of cumulative sources.
If you are concerned about amalgam in your fillings go to the www.iaomt.org web site and see what they have to say.
